What "manager-run" actually means

Where a franchisor permits a designated manager, there are usually conditions: training, approval, minimum owner hours or a ramp-up period. We show those conditions word for word. We never describe any franchise as passive or hands-off.

Questions to ask current owners

How many hours did you work in year one? When did you hire a manager? What does the franchisor require of you now?

Common questions

Are there passive franchises?

We don't use that word. Even where a manager is allowed, owners have ongoing obligations. We help you see exactly what each agreement requires.

How we're paid

Our consulting is free to buyers. If you open a franchise we introduced you to, the franchisor may pay FranRelay a placement fee. We tell you before an introduction whether that applies.
