1-800-STRIPER
1-800-STRIPER provides parking lot striping and related pavement-marking services, with approved options such as sealcoating and asphalt repair. Franchisees operate from an approved truck and a home or leased office.
Owning a home services franchise involves scheduling work at customers’ properties, managing crews and resolving service problems. It suits buyers comfortable with hiring, customer communication and responsibility for work quality.
A plumbing crew, a lawn service route and a property administration office need different skills and schedules. Your choice starts with who performs the work and how much of your day goes into coordinating it.
Owners manage hiring, scheduling, estimates and customer concerns. Staffing and space depend on the work, from qualified technicians to crews and vehicle storage.
Customers may pay for jobs, projects or recurring service. Expenses include labor, vehicles, materials, insurance, premises, marketing and franchise charges.

Start with how work reaches the schedule. For plumbing and HVAC, investigate technician qualifications and urgent-call coverage. For lawn and pest services, compare repeat visits, route spacing and seasonal scheduling. Handyman and roofing offers need scrutiny of permitted work and estimating; moving offers need attention to crews and vehicles. Property services may involve maintenance, administration or both. Each offer defines the actual services and operating requirements.
Owning the business and being authorized to perform regulated work are separate questions. Most states require plumbers to be licensed, but that does not establish whether you personally must hold the license to own a particular franchise. The licensing authority and franchisor can clarify who must qualify, supervise and perform the work. Franchise training does not replace a required license. Other services need their own assessment based on the tasks and jurisdiction.
Some offers allow a manager with conditions such as franchisor approval, completed training or direct daily supervision. An owner or designated principal may still have required duties. A manager adds payroll expense without removing your contractual responsibilities. Clarify who handles hiring, estimates, complaints and coverage during absences. Also establish whether the manager needs technical qualifications or whether a separate qualified employee must supervise regulated work.
Some offers permit a home office, subject to approval, zoning and site requirements. Permission to do office work at home does not necessarily allow commercial vehicle parking or storage of equipment and supplies. Depending on the offer, you may need secure storage or commercial space. Establish both franchise requirements and local property restrictions before signing a lease or assuming your home can serve as the operating base.
Cash flow depends on when customers pay and when expenses come due. If payment follows completion, you may pay wages and buy materials before collecting the invoice. Deposits and recurring billing can change that timing, but their terms vary by offer. Travel, an unfilled shift or a callback can also leave fewer hours for paid work. Plan around actual billing, collection and warranty terms rather than treating a booked job as money already received.
A territory sets contractual boundaries and protections. It does not guarantee customers or eliminate competition. Exceptions may cover national accounts, online sales or other channels. Establish who may serve customers inside the area and whether you may accept work outside it. Size alone is not enough to judge a service area: distant appointments can consume crew time and fuel, so consider customer spacing alongside the territory terms.
